Oh noooooooo, I wasn't able to answer the phone in time! ...Or scroll. Or mirror. Whatever you were using, I completely missed out! Leave a message, please, I'll get right back to you!
*robot beeps*
voice;
You're welcome, Sun Spear-san.
[It was a frantic and scary moment for them as newcomers, she gets that. No grudges here!]
Are you settling in okay?
no subject
No. [ A blunt and truthful answer. ] This place sucks and it seems like no one really needs the services of a merc so far as I've seen.
no subject
It definitely takes some getting used to. It would probably be harder if you're from a world that doesn't have most of these things.
[She sits back, thinking it over.]
There are a few places you could work at if you're looking for a job with fighting skills. I can give you some suggestions if you like! Do you have any specific requirements?
no subject
Not really? A jobs a job so long as it's not boring.
no subject
no subject
...Why?
no subject
--Or if you want, I can grab some brochures from the employment agency and you can come to the bakery for cake and tea while we talk!
no subject
God. ]
Sure, why not. Where is it?
no subject
[Directions are given from Fayren's gate to the Cake Town bakery. She even includes a map of Genessia City with the bakery clearly marked, just in case.]
If you come in the morning, it isn't as busy. Want to meet around 10?
no subject
Yeah, I'll be there.
no subject
Okay! See you then!
------------------
[As promised, she's waiting at the bakery and very prepared. Brochures are neatly stacked on one of the tables along with a pad of paper and a package of colored pens for note taking. Because it's early, there's still quite a bit of baking smells lingering, particularly the loaves of rye and wheat bread she just rolled into the big ovens in the back.]
[She's prepared to offer a slice of any cake flavor she has in the display case, or a different sweet if Sun Spear prefers, with a little bin of herbal tea bags that she can brew in a cup of hot water.]
Please make yourself at home! The morning rush is over, we probably won't get much business until after lunch.
no subject
She has a lot of regrets. About all of this. But she's here, and shit this place smells good; everything looks so nice and she looks so damn out of place. ]
You, uh... you run this place yourself? It's — [ Compliments, Sun Spear. ] Pretty. [ FUCK. ]
no subject
[She lowers her voice for her 'confession,' eyes twinkling.]
You can work here part-time if you like, but I thought you'd probably get bored. There's a bouncer position that'll open up in Attleton once we have our grand opening, so if you want it, you've got dibs! But let's go over the more likely options.
[She sits down, waiting for Sun Spear to do the same, before she starts laying out the brochures.]
These are the places that won't say no to bodyguards and bouncers. Almost all of the inns and taverns in Fayren have an opening. There's also the Fama Talent Agency in Nova City, and Gale's adult clubs. But if you want something that lets you move around more freely...
[She slides out a flyer for Jolly Eddy's.]
These guys offer guided tours and escorts through Everglade. It can be pretty dangerous there, because of all the ghosts and monsters. I haven't tried their services myself, but it seems like the work would never be boring!
[Then she puts out a business card for Sun Wukong's bounty hunting guild.]
This seems to be the most popular: bounty hunting! A lot of people here signed up for the guild. It might look like the market is oversaturated, but I've never seen a shortage of work. I'd recommend going for it; even if other people sign up for the big bounties, you can still get work pretty easily with personal requests, and it'll at least give you some extra pocket money even if you have full-time work somewhere else.
[She rests her chin on her hand as she looks at the elf.]
I don't have a flyer for this one, but you could also teach people self-defense and combat techniques. Maybe you could even train the guards at the castle!
no subject
thankfully, the conversation shifts to something more digestible. She seems vaguely interested in the standard offerings — but Jolly Eddy's actually catches her attention more than some of the others. 'Pretty dangerous' and 'monsters' are right up her alley — she tucks that one away for later.
Again, she's pretty quite for most of the spiel, speaking only when she looks up and sees Orihime looking at her. ]
I'm sure they've got enough training, if they're guarding a castle. Something to consider, though, and maybe there are more common folk in need of lessons.
no subject
[She folds her arms on the table, leaning over them as she relaxes with a smile.]
If anything, teaching lessons is something you can do on the side, and you'll get to train yourself at the same time against a new variety of abilities and opponents. So it works out well for both you and your students!
no subject
[ She hums thoughtfully, fingers drumming on the table in front of her. Sun Spear isn't exactly the teacher type — too aggressive for most 'students' that would be willing to suffer her lessons, she thinks — but she can certainly give it a try. Best she doesn't get rusty and complacent here and return home a useless lump. ]
Does that mean you want some lessons?
no subject
[She smiles awkwardly, gaze dropping to the side.]
I'm not a very good fighter. Not right now. So I've been training hard and taking lessons wherever I can. Even if I don't become a master of martial combat, it's at least teaching me to defend myself and other people if I had to fight someone with similar skills.
[Orihime's hands have been clutched tightly together in her lap beneath the table, but she lifts them now to rest firmly on the table as she raises her head.]
I need to do more than just heal people. I want to protect them too, so they won't need to be healed.
no subject
[ She assumes that her general demeanor, insistence for jobs that require some kind of fighting ability or bodyguard work, and the long, scary looking spear on her back kind of gave that away. But hey, looks can be deceiving to some or whatever. ]
I uh — you've been really helpful since I — we — got here, and ... I mean you can. [ God she's so fucking bad at this. ] If you need anything, you can come find me.
I won't charge you for lessons either, if you want them.
no subject
[Orihime perks up, shaking off the serious expression she had earlier with just two blinks of the eye.]
I can't wait to see a demonstration! I don't really know any spear fighters.
[Ikkaku is the only one, but she hasn't seen him fight with his released zanpaku'tou. She listens to Sun Spear's gratitude, and even finds herself blushing a little. Wow... Why does she feel like these are rare words to be treasured?]
You too. Call me any time at all, Sun Spear-san.
[Her grin widens.]
But you should definitely charge me for lessons! Even the best bodyguards in the world still need to eat, ne?
